7 Card Stud

Seven card stud is the 3^rd most popular poker game played online. Just about every online poker room offers it but the traffic is pretty low at most rooms. 7 card stud comes in 3 different variations. The first is just seven card stud, the high hand wins. You can also play the lowball version which is called hi-lo or 8 or better which is a split pot game much like Omaha hi-lo. The last version is Razz poker, which is lowball only 7 card stud.

The seven card stud rules are quite simple. Each player will place an ante and the dealer will deal everyone two down cards and one up card. The betting will start with whoever has the lowest up card and then will continue around the table just like in Holdem. Once this round of betting is complete the dealer will deal another up card. This will continue until each player has four up cards. The 7^th card will be dealt face down and one last round of betting will occur. Whoever has the best five card hand will win the pot.

Finding a room that has a lot of 7 card stud action can be a little tricky. Many rooms offer it but only a few can offer more than 1-2 active real money tables around the clock. Pokerstars averages around 500 players at the standard stud tables alone. This is why they are ranked as the best room for 7 card stud. You will find plenty of action at a couple other rooms but nowhere near what Stars offers.
